I had a good life. My parents provided for me and loved me the best way they knew how. But I was naturally rebellious. Everything was a debate. Every rule became a question of why.

Looking back, I don't think addiction started with drugs. I think it started with how I saw myself.

When the people around me tried to fix me, I often heard something different. I heard that I wasn't enough. I heard that I was unwanted. Whether that was true or not, it became the story I carried.

So I ran.

At first, I ran from my family.
Then I ran from my problems.

The truth is, I never really stopped running until I reached the end of the road.

I didn't want to die, but I didn't want to live either.

The day I admitted that was how I felt changed everything.

For the first time, I spoke up.

Life seemed to guide me into treatment, and from there into a fellowship where my voice mattered. I discovered something simple but life-changing:

My story mattered.

Not because it was perfect.
Not because it was dramatic.
Because it was mine.

Your story matters too.

Sometimes we need to write it before we can say it.
